Eye Care Treatment Options
A number of eye conditions and eye care treatment options exist. At the Watkins Eye Center, we treat eye conditions ranging from simple age-related degradation of vision to vision loss resulting from systemic diseases.
Cataract Surgery - If you suffer from cataracts (a clouding of the eye's natural lens), we offer cataract surgery to meet your needs. Cataracts can greatly reduce vision capacity, and if left untreated can eventually lead to blindness. During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and permanently replaced with an intraocular lens implant. For the benefit of our patients, we offer monofocal and multifocal lens options at Watkins Eye Center, specifically the Tecnis® multifocal lens. Multifocal lenses provide numerous benefits over traditional monofocal intraocular lenses, and we are proud to make them available to our patients.- Dry Eye Treatment - Dry eye is a condition in which there is an insufficient amount of fluid to keep the eye lubricated. This condition can result in reduced visual acuity and persistent irritation. Treatment for dry eyes can vary greatly depending on the patient's particular needs, but may include the application of wetting drops, the placement of tiny plugs in the tear ducts, or surgery. If you suffer from dry eyes, we can diagnose your condition and determine the most effective course of treatment.
Laser Vision Correction - Refractive surgery allows us to correct vision impairment by altering the shape of the cornea. With laser vision correction, vision can be improved quickly, reliably, and with unparalleled precision. LASIK, iLASIK vision correction, and the IntraLase bladeless vision correction system are among the laser eye care options offered at our Houston practice. The procedure that is right for you will depend on your needs and goals, both of which will be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr. Watkins.
We encourage you to learn more about your eye care options and to seek treatment sooner rather than later. Our vision is a precious commodity that lets us experience the world in a truly rich and inclusive manner. By optimizing your vision, eye care treatment can have a tremendously positive impact on your life.
